For this week's TWD, Rachel selected Chocolate Whopper Malted Drops. I was excited because it was an unusually cookie and I hadn't tried them yet. When I mentioned that I would be making them to some friends, I got a whole lot of "I don't like whoppers" and "can't you make the NYT chocolate chip cookies again?". I swear I could make nothing but the NYT cookies for the rest of my life and get very few complaints from my friends.

I ended up having to halve this recipe because I ate one of the boxes of whoppers before making the cookies. It was a rough week. The humidity was out of control when I finally went to bake them which did not work well for the consistency and ended up in an okay cookie. In a stroke of genius, I threw the cookies in the freezer. I tend to like frozen cookies and thought the cold might deepen the flavors a bit. These babies frozen are winners! I kind of wish I had made the full batch and then I could have chunked the cookies up and thrown them in some coffee ice cream. That would be delightful.

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I love the idea of putting the cookies in the freezer...I am definitely going to need to pop a couple cookies from all future batches in the freezer for comparison's sake.
I loved them frozen too!!! Your cookies look so pretty -- mine were flat (but still tasted good). You'll have to let us know if your friends start asking for these whopper cookies now!
Oh, those cookies would be great in coffee ice cream. I made some into ice cream sandwiches, and they were quite good that way. I agree that the cookie is better frozen (especially if they ended up too soft like mine did).

Those look so tasty! I love it when inspiration strikes!
I wish I had managed to save a couple of these to try them frozen, but they just disappeared too quickly!
Mine went in the freezer too - and I agree, they were delicious out of the freezer!
I love eating cookies straight out of the freezer and these cookies are especially awesome! I've had the same problem in the past though- eating the whoppers before I can make the cookies.
What a great idea to eat them frozen! I'll just have to make sure I have some left over in order to freeze them. Great looking cookies!
Thanks for your welcoming comment on my new blog. Nice to be part of the TWD. Love your pictures!

I love the frozen idea! I would have nover thought to do that! Your cookies are gorgeous!!
They look perfect!
They would be great in ice cream. I took one from the freezer last night and had it with some ice cream, and it was pretty good. Hope your friends liked these.
Frozen cookies -- I'll have to try that! Thanks for the idea.
