This is another christmas baking recipe I've had clipped forever but just got around to making. Now these may look like truffles but they are really the truffle's trashy second cousin. I simply didn't have time this year to go through what usually truns into hours spent rolling and dipping classic truffles. Alas, just because they do not require pounds of expensive chocolate and hours to make doesn't mean you won't love them. These treats are simply oreos crushed up, mixed with condensed milk and then dipped in melt chocolate. The recipe is so easy and makes a ton if you roll them small enough- so it is a perfect addition to a cookie tin. When I was grabbing oreos at the store, I was pretty amazed by the choice of flavors they have. I was really tempted to go with the peanut butter filled oreos but decided the mint filling might be better for the holidays. I drizzled a little white chocolate on top to make them look a little fancier.
Trashy Truffles1 package oreos, any flavor
1 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk
melted chocolate for dipping- I used a mix of bittersweet and semi sweet
Blitz the oreos in your food processor in two batches. Transfer to a bowl and mix with the condensed milk. Roll into small balls and transfer to a lined baking sheet. Place balls in the fridge to chill for about 45 minutes. Dip into melted chocolate and return to fridge to set.
I like to store these in the fridge because I think they taste better cold but they would be fine to keep at room temp for a couple of days.

LOL..."trashy truffle"! Too funny. I've seen something like this before, but the Oreos got mixed with cream cheese. Though I've never tried it, I really want to. Someday...
I love that... the truffle's trashy cousin- too funny! They look delicious. :)
Trashy truffles? Awesome. I made something similar and used a softened package of cream cheese instead of the sweetened condensed milk. You would have thought I slaved over this creation people were just fawning over them.
Oh these look great! I've seen the cream cheese ones, but I think I like these more. I'm just not a huge CC person. But chocolate with condensed milk? Mmmm...just like my "Better than Sex" cake!
I don't see myself ever making real truffles, just too fussy for me. But these? I can totally visualize it! Bookmarking!
