Potato Gratin

Like a good Irish girl, I always eat my potatoes. Cover them with garlic infused cream, thyme, and a little cheese and I'll lick the dish clean. I was so excited to try these potatoes that I just snapped a quick photo with my phone instead of going through a real set up. I'm regretting that now because you don't get to see the true loveliness of this dish.I made these potatoes as part of a nice square meal last week. Really, I made a regular dinner- meat, potato, green vegetable. On a week night too. Dorie's new cookbook is good enough to make me eat non desserts for dinner at least one night a week. Find the potato gratin recipe when you buy the book.

This was a hard dish to photograph that's for sure!

It was a toss-up for me this week--the gratin or the chicken. The chicken came before the potato for me...but I can't wait to try the gratin, too!

Looks totally yummy to me!

This is a difficult dish to photograph, especially when you're trying to contend with the deliciously distracting aroma!

Now I wish I had put the herbs in mine, this looks so much prettier with the herbs in it! Next time! Yep, I'm Irish, too...sort of, my Grandmother was Frances O'Brien from the county Armaugh in Ireland, so I guess that makes me 1/4 Irish...good enough to appreciate Colcannon on a regular basis! Your potatoes look fantastic!

Thanks for visiting my site:)
The more I hear about these potatoes, the more I am looking forward to trying them.
The flans were so simple and so tasty, that I was overjoyed! On the other hand, I am still to meet a recipe from this book that is a dud.
Good Idea to add the herbs.

Oh trust me, the goodness comes through loud and clear, even with the phone pic. Looks SO delicious!

I am 1/3 Irish. Never met a potato that I didn't like-except the purple ones-those are kinda scary!

phone or no phone - they still look good. Gratins looks no matter what, especially with cheese. I've yet to make the potato dish, but still have fresh thyme in my garden... hm! Looks wonderful!
